Dance Your Yoga

Dance Your Yoga is an invitation to move, explore, play, and enjoy being in your body.

It brings together simple yoga-based movement, free-form dance, music, imagery, and moments of quiet attention. There is room for individual exploration, shared movement, laughter, and the pleasure of moving in community.

You do not need to be a dancer. You do not need yoga experience. You do not need to know what your movement should look like.

You only need a little curiosity and a willingness to begin where you are.

A practice of movement and imagination

Some moments may be gentle and inward. Others may be lively, rhythmic, playful, or expressive. We may move on our own, with a partner, or as a group. The class can include simple yoga postures, improvisational movement, guided imagery, music, and rest.

There is no choreography to master and no performance expected. The emphasis is not on getting it right, but on sensing, responding, and allowing your own movement to emerge.

Dance Your Yoga draws on my background in classical ballet, yoga, Feldenkrais, mindfulness, creative movement, and expressive dance. It is also informed by my certificate training in Beth Rigby’s Yoga Meets Dance, a Kripalu-based approach that combines yoga, music, dance, relaxation, and community in a way that welcomes both dancers and non-dancers. The expressive-dance work of Daniel Leven has also been an important influence.

For every body

This class is designed to be adaptable. Whether you are 18 or 81, accustomed to dancing or convinced you have “two left feet,” you are welcome.

You may move softly or energetically, stay close to the ground or explore more space, participate fully in a group activity or take a quieter path. Your own comfort, capacity, and choice matter.

What you may find

People often come to Dance Your Yoga because they want more aliveness, creativity, connection, or joy in their movement practice. Along the way, you may find:

  • More ease and confidence in moving
  • A chance to reconnect with playfulness and imagination
  • Gentle strength, mobility, coordination, and balance
  • A release from self-consciousness or the need to perform
  • Music, laughter, companionship, and a sense of belonging
  • Space to express something that words do not always reach

Dance participation is associated in research with physical, emotional, social, and creative dimensions of well-being, though individual experience varies. What matters here is not a promised outcome, but the opportunity to move, feel, connect, and enjoy the moment.pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih+2

An invitation

Come as you are.

We will move between quiet and lively, gentle and vibrant, solitary and shared. We will make room for laughter, stillness, music, and discovery.

Dance Your Yoga is a joyful celebration of movement—and of being fully, imperfectly alive.
